One-year, Non-thesis M.S. FAQs

What are the course requirements for applying to the one year BME MS program?

All applicants must have obtained a bachelor of science degree or equivalent from an accredited university or institution and must have successfully completed at least one programming course (preferably Matlab) and one differential equations course.

Do students in the non-thesis master of science program perform research?

All students in the biomedical engineering master of science program are engaged in a year-long research experience.

Can I choose my research mentor?

You can select your own adviser, choosing from faculty who are leaders in their field and cover a variety of areas of expertise within biomedical engineering. You can select the one to mentor/advise you that is the best match for your desired area of study and career goal.

Is a thesis option available?

Students can write a master’s thesis with an extra semester of research work.

What do students do after graduation?

Successful graduates are positioned to become leaders in industry or may choose to use the experience as a transition to biomedical engineering doctoral programs.
