Penn State Reception at 2019 BMES Annual Meeting

See old friends and make new ones...

Are you planning to attend this year's BMES Annual Meeting? You are invited to attend the Penn State Department of Biomedical Engineering's evening reception.

Join Cheng Dong, department head of Penn State biomedical engineering, along with other BME faculty members, students, and alumni, to learn more about our major news and events and to celebrate our accomplishments.

This includes our brand-new building, which we dedicated in April. This 109,000-square-foot building meets the needs of our continued growth, as we've more than doubled our number of faculty in the last six years.

Also, this year we introduced a new faculty member, Deborah Kelly, a leading cryo-EM expert and cancer researcher who is in the top 14% in NCI individual research grant awards. In addition, this year saw the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) name Jian Yang as an NAI Fellow, Nanyin Zhang being elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), and Scott Medina receiving the National Science Foundation's Early Career Award. During 2018-19, our faculty were published in a wide variety of top-tier journals, with just a few examples including work published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences by Pak Kin Wong, Yong Wang, Jian Yang, Will Hancock, and Spencer Szczesny, in Advanced Science by Jian Yang, in Nature Communications by Igor Aronson, Nanyin Zhang, Xiao Liu, and Yong Wang, in Nano Letters by Deborah Kelly, and in Current Biology by William Hancock.

The reception is also a great networking opportunity!

RSVP for this event is not required and all are welcome to attend. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served. We look forward to seeing you there!

Reception Details:

  • Date: Friday, October 18
  • Time: 6:00-8:00 p.m.
