Department Loses Long Valued Member

This past October, biomedical engineering lost one of its original department members, Rita Kline. She passed away after a long illness. Rita was with the department for about 27 years and with Penn State for well over 30 years. She is survived by her husband, Tom, a sister in Florida and a brother in Lock Haven, PA.

Rita was hired by Dr. David Geselowitz, emeritus professor of biomedical engineering, member of the National Academy of Engineering, and founding chair of the Bioengineering Graduate Program before the department was established. She was the department’s administrative assistant and 'go to' person for anything we needed. Anyone who received a paycheck from our department, met Rita.

For all of us, it was a loss of a great co-worker, good friend, a part of our department history and she will be sadly missed, but not forgotten.
