Graduate students

SBL invites motivated students to join us for graduate studies leading to Ph.D. degrees.  Priority will be given to curious, creative, and self-motivated students willing to take initiative.  Prospective applicants may check with Dr. Wong.

Postdoctoral research associates

The Systematic Bioengineering Laboratory is hiring postdoctoral scientists to develop bioinspired materials and technologies for (1) elucidating mechanoregulation of collective cell migration in tissue regeneration and cancer metastasis, and (2) developing microfluidic systems for clinical diagnostics. The research scientists will establish a systems framework, which combines bio fabrication of organotypic and 3D tissue models, nanoengineered probes for single cell gene expression analysis and ablation, biomechanical analysis of cell-cell and cell-matrix interaction, and agent-based computational modeling, for elucidating collective migration in tissue development and cancer metastasis. Preference will be given to candidates experienced in the following areas: biomanufacturing, organotypic culture, 3D tissue models, microfluidics, electrokinetics, electrochemical sensing, angiogenesis, cancer metastasis, and mechanobiology. Candidates with a degree in biomedical engineering, biochemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, molecular or cellular biology are encouraged to apply.  If interested, please submit CV, research statement, and contact information of three references to Dr. Wong.

Undergraduate research opportunities

Currently, we have several undergraduate research opportunities available.  The opportunity for deep involvement in specific projects and publication exists for dedicated students, which will be valuable experience for medical school or graduate school applications.  If interested in joining SBL, please contact Dr. Wong with: your name, major, year, GPA, and resume.
