Drug Delivery and Nanomedicine

Biomaterial research at Penn State focuses on cell-material interactions, drug delivery, and developing functional polymer hydrogels for diverse applications. There is active work in using nanotechnology for the design and development of advanced drug delivery and in vivo imaging systems. Facilities include the Penn State Materials Research Institute.

Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine

Tissue Engineering/Regenerative Medicine integrates cell and molecular biology with biomaterials science to develop strategies for tissue and organ repair. Current efforts include developing novel biomaterial scaffolds for cardiovascular, musculoskeltal and neural repair, exploring cues that drive stem cell differentiation, and developing functional materials that control cellular function.
