Call for applications: Global Capstone Project with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

The Penn State Biomedical Engineering (BME) department is pleased to announce the 2019-2020 Global Capstone Project with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Students who participate in this global project will perform a year-long project in the combination of BME 496* (in fall) and BME 450 (in spring).

*All BME students can use up to three credits of biomedical engineering research, which include BME 496 and BME 494 to fulfill their option elective or other elective requirements.

What is included?

Two students will be selected from Penn State will be selected to participate in the project. They will be working closely with a biomedical engineering faculty member, two students from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Dr. Xin Zhao to complete the project.

Selected participant will receive up to full coverage on accommodation and flight ticket to travel to Hong Kong for 1-2 weeks academic exchange.+

+Penn State College of Engineering had agreed to provide 1/3 of the travel support to two Penn State students. Other than that, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University historically provide full support for two students from their partner university to travel to HK. A collaboration proposal will need to be submitted and be approved by their Dean’s office. Selected students will work with biomedical engineering in July-August to complete the proposal.

How to Apply

Eligible applicants include BME students who had completed BME 301, 303, and 403.

About

The Department of Biomedical Engineering administers the undergraduate major in biomedical engineering, and is a part of the university-wide Intercollege Graduate Degree Program, offering both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Bioengineering.
